On the road again

Hey:

The land of the sand is not treating me too badly right now. I have been on the road 14 of 16 days and this good. Too much BS at the home base. Nothing on top of your locker no shelves allowed ect. ect. We prefer the road and the enemy! It has been safe for my group so far, and hopefully that continues.

Everyone wants to know what we need. Right now if you would like to send me something just send it to the New Orleans area for people who desperately need it. If you want to send me something later on I am in a truck all day and the truck stops are closed! Things that you can eat on the go that won't melt are good. Cans with pop tops are good and other snacks.

It's almost football season and all of you have to root for the Redskins for me. I will try to designate someone to tape me the games and send to me.

Thanks for all of the prayers, letters, and packages.

Jim

Jim,
Thank you for letting us know what you need. That will help. We spent the weekend with Michelle and Michael, we missed you. All of the kids had a great time. Michael and Jessie stuck together most of the time spending time on game boy, then fishing, then back to game boy. Casey joined them also, but she enjoyed the small motorcycle that Justin had brought also. I am glad to hear that you are staying safe. Jessie did manage to fall into the pond on Sunday morning before Michael got there. She was up to her chest in smelly water. I guess you are used to being on the road. I hope your missions stay safe. Love,
Tammy

Hi Jim,
I'm glad things have gone smoothly while you're on the road! Thanks for letting us know what you can use over there! If you think of anything else, please be sure to let us know!

Things are going fine here. School's back in session, so we're all pretty busy. Ashley and Michael are still having play-dates on the phone. Ashley's got a great teacher this year, so it should be a great year.

Other than that, everything's pretty much the same here. Take care of yourself and hope to hear from you again soon!

Lot of love,
Sandy, Ed and Ashley

Heu Jim! I responded to this last week but I don't see it. I guess I hit the wrong button???

I will never complain about how much windsheild time I have anymore. That is a lot of driving and I am guessing there is no interesting scenery to make it interesting. I suppose driving in a combat zone is lively enough.

I am glad you and your men are safe so far. Katrina has knocked Iraq off the front page for a few days but even so it sounds a little quieter over there. I sure hope so.

I am a little dissapointed with the response to Katrina. Beth and I gave to the Red Cross and sent supplies to our church but I kept expecting my company to ask for volunteers to go down and help out. We went last year for the three-in-a-row hurricane event in Florida. My only guess is that there isn't anywhere to stay and nothing to eat and no work to do. Without power we can't do much for the cell sites and until the phone company gets the T1 lines back up even power won't help any. All our equipment in New Orleans is destroyed so that will have to be rebuilt after we are allowed back into the city. You would think my company would send some people down just to help serve meals until we had something to work on. Maybe they have and I just don't know about it.

The Redskins looked better in pre-season. Same tough defense and both Ramsey and Brunell looked better. Brunell looks much better. I wonder if he will beat out Ramsey?

I would tape the games for you but we only have an antenna. If you haven't found someone to tape them let me know. I need an excuse to get cable anyway. :)

I am assuming that something like a satellite radio or Ipod would be a distraction while you are driving through Iraq but if not let me know. Otherwise I will send food.

Take care and be safe.

Hey Uncle Jim! My dad doesn't know how to use a computer so he just told me to tell you Good Luck on the Road and to drink LOTS of water.. I made a site for you if you can see it: "http://www.GoodLuckUncleJim.blogspot.com"
(I learned how to make this link in my HTML computer class at school)
I still got my job as a cashier at a grocery store and I plan on staying there for a long time. I got my drivers license a couple weeks ago. John is doing great and trying to find a job. I still have all the redskin cards you game me when I was little and they are still in the cases including Michael Westbrook and Stephen Davis. Well bye for now Uncle Jim and update soon okay and if ya remeber grab a souvenir on the road for me please because that would be like so cool. Thanks,
Xx David Bartholomew xX

Hey Jim, I hope all is well over there. We are all thinking about you all the time.

I would love to talk football with you but I don't know how much you have been able to follow the Skins and I don't want to ruin any surprises. Let's just say they are having an interesting season.

Dad and Charlotte visited this past week. It was nice to see them. They both look good and happy.

Dad and I sent you a package last week and forgot to put any note in it. Typical Garners. Let me know what you liked and if there is anything else you want.

Write if you can and stay safe.

Uncle Jim! Im suprised nobody told you, but the Redskins beat Texas last week 14-13! They were losing the whole game 13-0 until the last quarter where they scored by running it in the endzone and the last 3 minutes of the game they scored again! I couldn't believe it! But i thought you would like to hear it lol.
